Berlin/ Baden-Baden 9 September 2011. Digital radio is well on its way to be a success, Rhineland-Palatinate´s Prime Minister Kurt Beck said visiting IFA 2011 in Berlin. The Chair of Germany´s Lander Broadcasting Commission commented: "The many years of fighting to install digital radio in Germany have paid off. I have heard from many representatives of the business community they are clearly supporting this radio of the future. That´s is my impression having visited the IFA 2011. I am convinced the new framework set will support digitalradio to be a success."


National Digitalradio starts successfully – all programmes receivable and active .

Entering a new era new Digitalradio in Germany started its regular transmission this morning. “All 27 transmitter locations have confirmed new digitalradio is now regularly working nationwide“, says Michael Reichert, Director of Germany´s Digitalradio (DR) project office based at the Baden-Württemberg spa city of Baden-Baden.

“All programmes having been planned for the first phase of Digitalradio in Germany are on air! The start of this modern and very new radio of the future means a milestone in Germany´s radio history. All members and radios involved are working hard to enhance and to improve receiving this new and digital radio“.

All users will find detailed programme information on all radios of the future as well as consumer information before buying a new Digitalradio set. As a highlight function this new page offers a "Receiving Progonosis". Just enter your post code or your village/town and your nationwide Digitalradio in your region appears. A detailed list shows all digital radios available in every German region including detailed programme information and contacts to all radio stations. Just one month and national PSB and commercial radios will kick-off Digitalradio in 27 german broadcasting regions. At the same time ARD radios will start its terrestrial Digitalradio transmissions. Listeners will finally experience the new DAB+ standard, the way of future radio broadcasting. To assure current and updated Digitalradio information the newly created „Projektburo Digitalradio" will join in by starting its infomation campaign , supported by all PSB/commercial radios as well as radio industry.
